Welcome to the ABYC Marine Service Technology Program!
This program is the first of its kind and as a member of this program; you are setting a new bar for the level of education your students are working towards. The tools available here will help your marine program successfully teach the skills and fundamental knowledge necessary for students to embark on a fulfilling career in the boating industry.
The Fundamentals in Marine Service Technology Textbook serves as the foundation for the program and this online instructor’s edition supplements the materials needed for instruction in a variety of ways.
Contained herein, you will find: • Presentations: Pre-designed in Microsoft PowerPoint, these are ready for your class. • Image Library: a collection of helpful terms, descriptions and examples, organized by chapter. Each image is available for downloadable by the instructor. • Videos: These dive deeper into specific topics. They provide a great break from lecture and a different level of engagement as well as provide better examples of a topic that may not be available in class. • Flashcards: Ideal for practice and drills, the flashcards are organized by terms or definitions to reinforce key concepts. • Assessments: The exam-prep materials are available in common online learning formats (such as Moodle, Blackboard, Etc.) or can be downloaded for conventional print distribution.
These tools combined with the entry-level Marine Service Technician Certificate exam ensure your marine program’s success at creating a well-rounded curriculum. Graduates of your program implementing these resources will retain skills recognized by the boating industry as required for entry level job placement.
